Information We Collect

Account & Authentication

When you sign in or create an account using Firebase Authentication, we receive identifiers such as email address, name (if provided), and authentication tokens. We also store role information (e.g., owner, admin) to enable appropriate access.

Free Demo Email & Verification

To use the free demo at /demo, you give us an email address. This does not create an account — there is no password, and it gives you no access to the paid application. We email you a 6-digit verification code and ask you to enter it, so we know the address belongs to you.

We keep that email address as a prospective-customer record, along with whether it was verified, when and how often you used the demo, the marketing notice you accepted and when you accepted it, any partner or referral code you arrived through, and whether you have unsubscribed. We do not use unverified addresses for marketing.

Content You Provide

We store your journal content (answers, captions, photos) and related metadata in Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage.

Audio and Video Recordings

We store recordings you create or upload using Cloudflare R2 and Cloudflare Stream. Audio recordings have a backup copy for redundancy. Recordings are not publicly listed or indexable; sharing links and printed QR codes use unguessable recording tokens.

You retain ownership of your recordings. We use them only to provide the recording, transcription, playback, sharing, and book-creation features. You may download your recordings or explicitly delete them through the available account controls.

AI-Assisted Features

When you use AI writing tools ("Help me expand this," "Polish my answer," Book Readiness Review, AI-Personalized Plan of Salvation) or recording transcription, the relevant answer text, audio, or video is sent to OpenAI's API for processing and a result is returned to you.

• You retain ownership of the inputs you submit and the outputs you receive.
• OpenAI does not use this content to train its models by default, and we do not opt in to any such training.
• OpenAI retains API inputs and outputs securely for up to 30 days, solely for abuse monitoring, before deletion.

Purchases & Billing

We use Stripe to process payments. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers. Stripe provides us with limited information (e.g., transaction status, last 4 digits, and receipt details).

Communications

When we email you — transactional messages such as receipts, account notices, and free-demo verification codes, or non-transactional messages such as status/quote emails and occasional marketing — we process your email address and delivery metrics (opens/bounces) via our email provider (Postmark). Each non-transactional email includes an unsubscribe option.

Device & Usage

We may collect device information and basic usage logs (e.g., IP address, browser type, pages viewed) for security, debugging, and analytics. Firebase and hosting logs may also capture error traces and request metadata.

On our free demo page (/demo), we ask for an email address and send a verification code to it before the demo opens (see “Free Demo Email & Verification” above). If your address is verified, we may use it to send occasional emails about My Faith Stories, and you can unsubscribe from those at any time. We use your IP address to apply usage limits and help prevent abuse of the free demo. Some limits reset after a period of time, such as the number of verification emails that may be requested from an IP address; others are one-time allowances that do not reset. We create short-lived records to check your code and keep your demo open, used only to operate and secure the demo. What you write or record in the demo is temporary — it is not saved to a journal, though audio and video sent for transcription are processed by OpenAI as described above.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies/local storage to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and secure the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

Sensitive Categories We Avoid

We do not seek to collect sensitive categories of personal information (e.g., precise geolocation, health, government IDs) unless you intentionally provide them within your content. Do not upload content you are not authorized to share.

How We Use Information

• Provide, secure, and improve the Services (including authentication, storage, and backups)
• Generate features you request, like PDF/book exports of your journal content
• Send transactional emails (receipts, notices, free-demo verification codes) and, if you opt in, status/quote emails
• Confirm that an email address belongs to the person using it
• Send occasional emails about My Faith Stories, including product information, updates, and special offers, to people who provided a verified email address through the free demo and have not unsubscribed
• Personalize your experience
• Prevent abuse, apply usage limits to free features, troubleshoot issues, and enforce our Terms
• Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users

How We Share Information

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data with service providers who help us operate the Services, subject to contractual and security obligations:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Hosting, Cloud Functions)
• Stripe (payments and receipts)
• Postmark (email delivery, including free-demo verification codes)
• Cloudflare (R2 audio storage and delivery for Audio Memories)
• OpenAI (AI writing assistance and audio/video transcription — no model training on your content, 30-day retention for abuse monitoring only)
• Vendors for printing/fulfillment if you order printed products
• Professional advisors and authorities when required by law or to protect users

Your Choices & Rights

Access, Update, Delete

You can view and edit much of your information in your account. To request a copy of your data or deletion of your account and associated content, contact us at support@ourfaithlegacy.com. Note that we may retain certain data as required by law, to resolve disputes, or for security.

Email Preferences

You can opt out of non-transactional emails — including the occasional marketing emails described above — at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in those messages or by contacting us at support@ourfaithlegacy.com. Transactional emails are different: these are messages you asked for or that are necessary to the Service, such as a free-demo verification code, a password reset, or a purchase confirmation. If you request a demo verification code, we will send it even if you have unsubscribed from marketing.

California & Similar State Rights

We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law. Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or appeal a decision regarding your data. Contact us to exercise these rights, and we will verify your request as required.

Security, Retention & Children

Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including Firebase Security Rules, role-based access, and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You may request deletion as noted above.

Audio and video recording storage is included with your My Faith Stories purchase. Recordings are not scheduled for deletion because of a subscription status. Explicit deletion requests and legitimate moderation or legal requirements may still remove content.

For the free demo, we keep the usage counts associated with an IP address (see “Device & Usage” above) as needed to apply those limits. We may keep demo email records — including verification status, the marketing notice you accepted, and unsubscribe status — for business, consent, suppression, and legal purposes; if you unsubscribe, we keep that fact so we do not send you marketing again by mistake. The short-lived verification and demo-session records are retained only as needed for operational and security purposes. Content processed by OpenAI for AI writing assistance or transcription is retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted under OpenAI’s retention policy.

Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent. Do not upload personal information of children unless you have the necessary permissions (e.g., parent/guardian consent).

International Transfers

We are based in the United States and process information in the U.S. Service providers (like Google and Stripe) may process data in other countries subject to their safeguards and contractual commitments.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “Effective Date.” If changes materially affect your rights, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
